how to configure Outlook Express 6 to send and receive email from your domain

Step 1 (Initial account set-up)

To receive e-mail from your Domain

Open the program Outlook Express then click on the tools menu at the top, then select 'Accounts' from the drop-down menu

Step 2 (Selecting which service)

The next step is to tell Outlook Express that you want to set-up a new mail account. This is done by clicking on the 'add' button, then selecting the mail submenu item.

Step 3 (Type in your name to be displayed)
Once the new window appears, input your name. When you send e-mail your name will appear in the form field of the outgoing message. Type your name as you would like it to appear, for example: John Smith. Once done, click next.

Step 4 (Server details)
Step 4 configures the servers to use when you are sending and receiving e-mail. The settings are as follows:

Incoming mail server is a POP3 server (Post Office Protocol)

Incoming mail server is POP3 type in mail.yourdomainname.com

Outgoing mail server is SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) again type in mail.yourdomainname.com

once done, click next.

Step 5 (Account information)
Account name type in (name)@domainname.com

enter your password

Once done, click next then finish then close. Your account is now setup!

Step 6 (Checking e-mail)
To check for email within Outlook Express, simply click on the Send/Recv button located at the top. Clicking on the New Mail button enables you to send and receive e-mail.

Try to send and receive

Unsure if your new e-mail account is working? Send an e-mail message to a friend. If they get the message, your account is working. But if you run into problems setting up your account, Outlook Express offers help. Search for troubleshooting topics from the Contents and Index(F1) on the Help menu.
